Meet the Principal
Mrs. Billingsley enthusiastically enters her second year as Principal of Richard Allen Preparatory in Dayton, Grades 4-8. As an educator for 16 years, Mrs. Billingsley earned her Undergraduate Degree in Middle School Education, Grades 4 - 9 from Central State University; and launched her career as a middle school Science and Language Arts teacher. Mrs. Billingsley later earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and is pursuing a doctorate in education with curriculum and instruction being her chosen area of specialization.
Mrs. Billingsley’s career as an educator includes multiple teaching and educational leadership positions. An interest and commitment to professional advancement afforded Mrs. Billingsley an opportunity to become Dean of Students at a local charter school, where she also later served as Assistant Principal of School Culture, responsible for maintaining a positive school environment and climate. Several years later, Mrs. Billingsley reached another career goal and excitedly accepted the position of Principal at Richard Allen Preparatory in Dayton, Grades 4 – 8.
As Principal of Richard Allen Preparatory, Mrs. Billingsley has enthusiastically worked to coach teachers and nurture and guide students with a balance of discipline with love, as well as promotes a positive school culture and climate. Mrs. Billingsley’s passion is grades 4 – 8, even though she possesses a teaching and mentoring experience at varying grade levels. As Principal of Richard Allen Preparatory, she leads with the belief that every child can and will learn through effective teaching. Additionally, with a purposeful focus, Mrs. Billingsley seeks to empower students to take ownership of their learning. She views empowerment as a vital educational leadership goal that frames students’ preparation to become life-long learners and productive citizens of the world; thus putting into practice Richard Allen Preparatory’s Pledge and Creed.
Mrs. Billingsley works to build strong relationships with parents and students that promote academic achievement and school success. As an educational leader, she strives to actualize the importance and value of administrators, teachers, parents and students tirelessly working together to ensure students’academic growth and success.
Motivations for Mrs. Billingsley are the daily opportunities to welcome students with a smile, foster teamwork among teachers and unapologetically push students to put forth their very best!
Mrs. Billingsley enjoys family life with her husband, Isaac and their two daughters, Kennedy and Maya.
